Josh Taylor unfortunately lost out in his AIBA World Championship bout against Asian Games Gold Medallist Daniyar Yeleussinov of Kazakhstan.
GB Boxing’s Matt Holt reported on the bout from Azerbaijan -
“It wasn’t to be for Josh in his first World Championships, as he went down 11-5 to a tough opponent from Kazakhstan. A close first round in which both boxers scored with clean blows finished with Yeleussinov 3-2 to the good. In the second the lead was stretched to 7-3, and despite a valiant last round, the Edinburgh man couldn’t claw it back and the bout closed with the scoreline 11-5.”
This was a tough opening contest for Josh and one he will take great experience from.
