ABS is aware unregistered Coaches are operating within some of its affiliated Clubs and at ABS Championships. ABS would like to remind Clubs of their duties and responsibilities regarding Child Protection and Child Protection issues. Any Coach who wishes to coach or help out at ABS affiliated Clubs must follow the following steps as detailed in the 2011 ABS Club Pack:
4.1 Accepting a new Coach at the club
- The coach in question must contact the club they wish to join and make their interest known, either in person, by telephone or via email or letter. They must also request a coach role description outlining the roles and responsibilities of a coach.
- The person who received the note of interest must then contact the club Secretary and/or another member of the club Committee to make them aware of the interest. They must also get the applicant to fill in an application form (6.5.5) and send it to ABS for consideration.
- The coach must speak to the Secretary of the club they wish to join and ask them to inform their relevant District Secretary that they will be joining that club.
- The District Secretary will then arrange for the coach to go through their Disclosure check to join the PVG Scheme (existing PVG Members will be checked via a Scheme Record Update).
- Once the Disclosure process has been completed and they have been cleared to coach at that club ABS will inform the club Secretary by official letter and/or email. The coach must then apply to ABS for a Coach Registration Application pack.
- The club Secretary must contact their relevant District Secretary to inform them of the appointment of their new coach.
Any ABS Club found to have unregistered or undisclosed Coaches actively coaching may face further action and possible suspension of their affiliation.
Coaches without ABS Coach Registration Badge will not be allowed to coach ringside at 2012 ABS Championships.
